    Superb

Another excellent Inn in Newport which oozes the history of the ancient tradesmen and merchants

    Good

The location and breakfast were great though we had to wait for breakfast..

    Superb

Friendly, efficient staff. Good breakfast, clean, well decorated room. Convenient location. Parking on-site.

The bed was soft and bouncy - my husband could not get comfortable and he tossed and turned . The shower was a hard stream and could have been a softer, more pleasant stream, but it was hot and plentiful and did the job.

The location of the inn is excellent; situated as it is in the old quarter of Newport. It is an easy stroll to the shops and restaurants and the harbour area. When we arrived, reception was friendly, welcoming and efficient. We were only booked in for one night, the room was adequate, the bed very comfortable and towels and bedding very clean.

Overall, we had a good stay but we felt the furnishings of the inn were a little faded and tired. There is an unattractive green carpeting throughout the hall and landing area that has definitely seen better days. Our room was large but cluttered with furniture that didn't match either the decor or the general historic feel of the inn. The air conditioning unit was also very noisy, so much so that at 2 A.M. we had to turn it off in order to get some sleep. With some investment in new furnishings and perhaps a woman's touch(!), it would be lovely and worth the daily rate which we thought slightly excessive in the circumstances.

    A little pricy.

    Fabulous

Great location-close to shopping, wharf, etc

Mildew around the tub-owner needs to re-caulk. Could use extra pillows and blankets. No drinking glasses in room. No coffee before 8am! Great location but rooms could use some updating. Lot of $$ for a small room.

    Good

Great location and walking distance to historic downtown Newport, shopping, bars, restaurants and waterfront piers.

1.) Really bad parking problem at these B&B's on Clarke Street. Although they promise you parking, getting it is another story. 2.) Staff should give details about the "sign up" process for breakfast. I was not informed of this at check-in and treated a bit rudely when going down for breakfast. I was berated a bit and told that signs are everywhere around check in area. Unfortunately, my room was at the Clarkeston Inn and not at the Cleavland House where you check in. Not really looking for small signs taped to doors when trying to check in. 3). Only 4 tables in breakfast room, so limited seating which is why it would have been nice to be informed of this policy.

Pretty room, nice large private bath

Obviously, this was one of several inns owned by a company and it showed -- none of the personality and benefits of a privately owned b & b, which we thought this was. Boring continental breakfast, which appeared to be monitored by no one (had to knock on closed office door for help). Advertised as having a whirlpool tub, but sign indicated it wasn't working at the time (and looked like it never would be, based on beautifully designed sign). Overall, felt place misrepresents itself. It's really more for business travelers who want a less generic atmosphere.

    Superb

We loved the location and found the New England colonial period reflected in the house whilst still being modern!

    Exceptional

The innkeeper was extemely accomdating and friendly. There are multiple properties associated with these Inns and they allowed us to choose the room we liked since it was the off-season so we ended up in the Admiral Farragut. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was cooked to order which was an unexpected bonus for a B&B. The location to the city center was perfect for walking which is nice since parking in Newport is difficult. Overall we really enjoyed our experience here and would recommend it for a weekend getaway.
